What is IMAP?

IMAP and POP are two mail protocols to access email. IMAP is the recommended method when you need to access your emails from several different devices, such as phone, laptop, and tablet.

In addition, IMAP is an advanced protocol that allows you to access your email wherever you are, from any device. Moreover, when you access and read an message using IMAP, you’re actually reading it from the email service instead of downloading or storing it on the computer.

IMAP only downloads a email when you click on it as the attachments aren’t automatically downloaded. As a result, you’re able to check your messages faster than using POP.
