New Domain Name Email Blocked by Google Mail / Gmail

We got feedback from user that Google Mail:

Gmail blocked one of their new domain names. They don’t know why this occurred. Below you can see some guidelines on how to NOT let Google Mail block your email in their mail system. Please note that, Gmail’s spam filtering works through reputation associated with the IP address of the sending mail server.

Probable reasons among others, may include:

Firstly, Gmail receiving lots of spam from that IP address.

Secondly, Lots of Gmail users use the “report spam” on mail from that IP address.

Next, somewhat previous mail server was compromised and used to send spam.

Your server then received fresh IP address earlier used to send spam.

Suggestions on improving Mail Delivery to Google Mail System

1)  Make sure to pass the authentication by using SPF & DKIM.

2)  Next, you should check the Google bulk Sender’s Guidelines.

3)  Besides that, make sure the email does not contain any suspicious-looking or spam text, or sent mails cc/bcc’d to large numbers of recipients (“bulk mail”) to send out newsletters, invitations, etc. This is because many recipients may receive the spam. The spam filter confuses bulk mail with spam significantly more probably.

Things to Avoid

  • Do not purchase email addresses from other companies.
  • Next, do not send mail to users who did not sign up to receive messages from you. This might be the recipients are marking those messages that they unwanted as spam. Future messages from your server to these users are marked as spam.
  • Last but not least, avoid opt-in forms that are checked by default. Some countries/regions have restrictions for automatic opt-in. Thus, you should always check the laws in your country/region before opting-in users automatically.
